What Is A Girl To Do?

So tell me, what does a good, food-adoring gal do when her stomach decides to protest anything other than bread, rice, buttered pasta, and its ilk? When that girl is literally ordered to avoid all of the gloriously crunchy, vibrant, and/or sweet summer produce that she's been gorging on?

Is your answer that she decides to redo her kitchen (since she can't cook in it)?

You might be right...

I'm about 3/4 finished, but we are headed out of town for the holiday weekend. Expect a post next week with more pictures of the finished product, and hopefully some cooking because I can't HANDLE any more blandness.

i just dicoverd your website and i am SO excited. i LOVE to cook and my husband and i have been travelling throughout our first year (and comming up second year) of marraige so i havent been able to do as much cooking as i yearn to. anyways, we have just moved to calgary and we are going to moving into a real place of our own in about 6 months (we will still travell but we are both getting kinda antsy to just have drawers to put our clothes in and a place of our own and all that jazz.... and i want a kitchen of MY OWN!) anyways, i cant wait to start cooking again and you have inspired me emensley! i love your blog Moules Frites and Nostalgia, my husband and i spent 2 months in europe for our honeymoon and spent about a week in france and although we didnt have moules and frites there we did have our fair share in belugium and they were FABULOUS! i WILL be making them when to celebrate getting into our new place in a few months, thanks!

oh also i forgot to add somthing in my comment, i found a really graet tip the other day for roasting veggies in the oven... if you use a pan... i usually use one of those round pans that are intended for pizza that come with most baking sets... anwyays, place it in the 400 degree oven while it is preheating and mix your veggies (carrots, potatoes, onions and whatever) in a bowl with your olive oil and spices and stuff and when the oven and pan are preheated tumble them all in. it will sear the veggies and give them a nice crispy searedness and they almost caramalize because of the direct heat. makes them really yummy. i used to do my "special potatoes" as my husband calls them (they are jsut roasted with spices) in a glass or ceramic dish but now i do it this way and they get such a great skin on them. carrots are my favorte, cut lengthwise and seared and roasted like this. yum.
